What You'll Do:

As the Process Engineer, you will develop, research, coordinate and perform optimization and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to continually enhance the areas.

 

Your Accountabilities:

  • Creates and develops the manufacturing processes to continuously improve and enhance part quality, reduce scrap, while staying within the budget and timelines.
  • Collaborates on material/part sampling and testing to identify areas for continuous process improvement to meet quality and operational goals.
  • Researches new methods to improve the current process, benchmarking against market and works with suppliers to improve their products to ensure quality and output goals are met.
  • Provides education and training to operators on new processes in a way that is easy to understand and will develop operational efficiencies.
  • Creates work instructions based on new processes ensuring they have been reviewed and validated to meet equipment and tooling standards.
  • Develops and launches new programs and the related processes, staying within the budget and timelines, to continuously enhance operational effectiveness.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical) or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive "hands-on" experience in the development, implementation, and training of new manufacturing processes within a heavy manufacturing environment related to metals.
  • Certification(s): N/A
  • Functional Skills: Ability to be hands-on (ie. on the plant floor) involved in various production activities to collect data on processes to create/develop best practice solutions. Excellent planning, prioritizing, and organizational skills. Detail-oriented and thorough. Also requires solid math, analytical, and problem-solving skills to effectively enhance the manufacturing areas.  Prior Six-Sigma experience helpful.
  • Technology Aptitude/Skills: Excellent PC skills, strong MS Office skills, ERP, CAD, design software experience helpful.
  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, strong ability to create/write work instructions and train others.
  • Leadership/Behaviors: Solid collaboration skills, ability to listen to ideas, others, and implement the best enhancements, ability to work with others, be open minded to ideas and try new things. Ability to be positive, conceptualize, and initiate projects effectively. Versatility/flexibility is also key to perform various portions of multiple projects.

Pay Programs:  Pay is commensurate with proven expertise!

   -  And, the compensation will grow as the team member grows!

Reports To:  Technical Director

Core Hours:   1st Shift: 7:00am -3:30pm

Typical Work Week:  M-F; some weekends required; 40 45 hours a week on average.

Direct Reports: N/A; Works with other departments as needed.

Travel: Limited; 5% or less

Work Conditions:  Regularly exposed to an office and manufacturing environment with moderate noise. Occasionally required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment while visiting manufacturing departments, such as metatarsal steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, and ear plugs.  Occasionally exposed to hot mold metal, welding debris, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The environmental climate is hot in most areas of the plant. May face inclement weather conditions when traveling. Lifting up to 50 lbs. sporadically is also needed.
