Mold Associate

What You'll Do:

As the Mold Associate, you will operate the Mold area equipment, as well as, inspect the materials to ensure production, quality, and customer specification goals are met.

 

Your Accountabilities:

  • Performs the operation, trouble-shooting, and material change over for various Molding equipment, ensuring a high-level of safety, material quality, and output within the areas of the Crane, Clansman, Cope/Drag Patterns, and Molds.
  • Assigns and records the Cope serial number and enters into the ERP system, accurately and timely.
  • Performs various activities to prepare, spray and vacuum seal plastic to the mold pattern and apply sand, ensuring the seal is accurate to eliminate leakage.
  • Performs activities to remove vent and riser pins, applying plastic to exposed areas to prevent leakage and inspects mold cavity to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Sets the Core package and assembles the Drag and Cope Flask, ensuring these are ready and placed on the transfer line in a safe, high quality, and efficient way to meet output goals.
  • Operates the Crane to safely transport and pick up molds to/from the pour line and remove the Cope Flask, ensuring the product is moved timely and meets quality standards.
  • Operates the Clansman to safely remove the casting and place cluster on the monorail as well as operate the shop blaster in a safe and high-quality way.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred; may consider equivalent course work with proven experience for the right individual.
  • Experience: 2-3+ years' experience within a heavy industry manufacturing environment; prior Crane, Clansman and forklift experience helpful but will train.
  • Certification(s): N/A
  • Functional Skills: Ability to handle and operate heavy equipment, tools, instruments, air hose and vacuum; high attention to detail with an ability to read and understand documents, procedures, and specifications. This role also requires strong prioritization skills, as well as an ability to multi-task and problem-solve issues in a fast-paced environment to meet output goals.
  • Technology Aptitude/Skills: Good computer skills; operator interface with equipment; some data entry; each part has to be serialized and entered into the database.
  • Language Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership/Behaviors: High Safety minded with a strong work ethic and values, focused on the customer, quality, and accuracy, takes the time to do things right yet is flexible to cross-train and move to other priorities throughout the department.
  • Culture Match Behaviors: Ambitious, conscientious, likes to work in a team environment with the ability to collaborate with others.  A person who can listen to others, learn quickly, and be independent to get the job done.

Pay Programs:  Pay is commensurate with proven expertise!

   -  And, the compensation will grow as the team member grows!

Reports To:  Production Supervisor

Core Hours:  Day Shift:   6:00 am - 2:30 pm  Afternoon Shift: 2:00 pm -10:30pm Night Shift: 10 pm -  6:30 am

Typical Work Week:  M-F; some weekends may be required; 40 45 hours a week on average.

Direct Reports: N/A; Works with other departments as needed.

Travel:  No travel

Work Conditions: Dry sand with ventilation, will be around HOT areas; work environment is heated in the winter and HOT in the summer. You will be working in close confined spaces at times. Lifting up to 50lbs is needed to lift sand cores and shovel sand.
