What You'll Do:

As the General Accountant, you will review, validate, and handle the daily Accounting activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting that will support the achievement of financial goals.   

 

Your Accountabilities in the Role:

  1. Reviews and posts journal entries in the system ensuring accuracy; supports AP & AR with complex obstacles.
  2. Reconciles journal entries and general ledger activities to ensure validation.
  3. Reviews expense reports in the system, with the credit card statements, ensuring accurate coding and processing based on the Company policy. Trains employees on appropriate processing as needed. 
  4. Reviews payroll processing, ensuring complete, on-time and compliant processing.
  5. Manages the semi-annual physical inventory process to ensure accurate inventory within the system.
  6. Reviews and maintains fixed assets, with a depreciation schedule, to ensure accurate tracking.
  7. Processes dealer, excise, and other state registrations and licenses for both cargo trailer and RV, ensuring ongoing compliance for the business.
  8. Manages the monthly state sales and use tax, annual 1099's, surveys, and annual state filings ensuring complete tax compliance.
  9. Supports the month-end, quarterly, and annual close process for accurate and on-time delivery of financials.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Education: BS degree in Accounting preferred; will consider an Associate's Degree in Accounting and related experience. Public Accounting experience would be a plus.
  • Experience: 5+ years of General Accounting experience performing AP, AR, and journal entry functions in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of GAAP and corporate tax compliance is essential.  Payroll experience would be a plus.
  • Certification(s): CPA not required but is a plus.
  • Functional Skills: High attention to detail and reconciling a large amount of data; ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and complete work on-time and accurately; strong basic math skills and advanced conceptual and problem-solving skills; highly process-oriented; ability to research tax laws and policies to ensure high accuracy in application in the organization.
  • Problem-Solving: Will use defined guidelines and policies to make decisions; will provide suggestions to optimize daily processes
  • Accountability: Subject to broad practices and policies; supports goals measured by upper mgmt.
  • Technology Aptitude/Skills: Proficient with ERP systems, Microsoft Office (especially with Excel), and other software programs.
  • Language Skills: Solid verbal and written communication skills; able to train and mentor others
  • Leadership/Behaviors: Strong initiative to work independently, data-focused, supportive of the team, strong with processes and compliance; collaborative and forward-thinker who can figure things out or come with suggestions and enhancements; solution-oriented; has a sense of urgency to get things done.

Pay/Salary:  Salary is commensurate with proven expertise.

Reports To:     Controller                                                                                                                                                                                      

Core Hours:   7:00 am 4:00 pm, with a 1-hour lunch; some flexibility in hours worked within this timeframe

Typical Work Week:  M-F; some Saturdays are required (when applicable);  typically, 40-45 hours a week on average
