What You'll Do:

As the Paint Operator you will operate and apply various painting materials to designated product lines in a safe and high-quality way ensuring customer specifications and on-time delivery goals are met.

Your Accountabilities:

  • Operates paint equipment to apply primer, paint, and other coatings in a high-quality way to meet customer specifications and on-time delivery.
  • Maintains all paperwork associated with spray painting including production reports, booth inspections, mixing logs, traveling process sheets and product identification tags in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintains all equipment associated with painting, including pressure pots, paint guns, paint hoses, paint booths, etc. to ensure optimal functionality of equipment.
  • Monitors and controls proper disposal of paint related waste following all safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Maintains housekeeping within all areas of the finishing facility including production areas, storage areas, and waste disposal areas to ensure 5S goals are met.
  • Assists with loading and unloading the paint lines as required.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred; may consider equivalent course work with proven experience for the right individual.
  • Experience: 1-2+ years of prior experience in a related spray-painting role within an industrial or autobody environment.
  • Certification(s): N/A
  • Functional Skills: Ability to handle and operate various painting equipment such as spray guns, paint pots, and spray booths; high attention to detail with an ability to read and understand documents, procedures, and specifications. Must have basic math skills to count; must also be able to take temperature and humidity readings on equipment and make adjustments. This role also requires strong prioritization skills, as well as an ability to multi-task and problem-solve issues in a fast-paced environment to meet output goals.
  • Technology Aptitude/Skills: Basic computer skills; operator interface with equipment; some data entry; each part must be serialized and entered into the database.
  • Language Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership/Behaviors: High Safety minded with a strong work ethic and values, focused on the customer, quality, and accuracy, takes the time to do things right yet is flexible to cross-train and move to other priorities throughout the department.

Other Important Information:

Pay Programs: Pay is commensurate with proven expertise!

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Core Hours: Night Shift: 10 pm - 6:30 am

Typical Work Week: M-F; some weekends may be required; 40 45 hours a week on average.

Direct Reports: N/A; Works with other departments as needed.

Travel: No travel

Work Conditions: Dry sand with ventilation, will be around HOT areas; work environment is heated in the winter and HOT in the summer. You will be working in close confined spaces at times. Lifting up to 50lbs is needed to lift sand cores and shovel sand.
