What You'll Do:

As a Welding Associate for Superior Equipment, you will perform welding and steel fabrication to build our waste handling equipment to ensure an on-time, quality product in a safe environment.

Your Accountabilities in the Role:

  • You will review blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures and efficient processes.
  • You will dismantle, move and position components for optimal placement prior to welding to create accurate and efficient work.
  • You will perform welding to join, resurface, fabricate, or repair metal components or other weldable materials to achieve proper weld and strength requirements.
  • You will perform thermal cutting, plasma cutting, oxy acetylene torch cutting, and grinding of finished products to meet the specifications of the job.
  • You will train, assist, and support the team in other areas for the overall benefit of the group.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience: 2+ years of MIG (GMAW) welding of steel experience; minimum of 1 year of experience in a production environment as well is required to understand the building flow; using a variety of welding equipment, plasma cutting, saw cutting, and power tools (can train on some tools).
  • Certification: AWS certification is desirable but not required.
  • Functional Skills: Must be able to read blueprints; basic building techniques required, with strong mechanical and logical skills to work through the processes and solve problems efficiently; detail-focused and process focused to create a high-quality result.
  • Communication Skills: Basic reading, writing, and verbal communication skills are required. Ability to speak some basic English is needed.
  • Leadership/ Behaviors: Strong work ethic; takes initiative; and can work independently and with others; self-disciplined to get work done well and on-time; efficient; quality and safety minded; supportive, collaborative, and dependable in their role and helping the team.

Other Important Information:

Pay/Salary: Pay is commensurate with proven expertise. With a 90 day review and potential increase to base pay.

Reports To: Weld Shop Supervisor

Core Hours: 6:00 am 3:30 pm, M-Thurs; 6:00 10:00 am on Fridays

Typical Work Week: M-F; some Saturdays may be requested based on work load; Minimum of 40 with additional hours as needed.

Direct Reports: None

Travel: Limited

Work Conditions: Ability to lift up to 50-60 lbs.; and willingness to drive a forklift would be a plus. Required Equipment: Steel toe boots, welding helmet, 25' tape measure. (Optional: 3-5lb hammer)
