Quality Inspector

This role is located in Elkhart, IN. Pay is negotiable with proven skills!

Pay: $15.50 - $19.00 / hr based on experience and skills

What You'll Do:

As the Quality Inspector, you will inspect emergency vehicles using predetermined specifications to ensure each vehicle meets the required standards and is safe for customer use.

Your Accountabilities in the Role:

  • You will perform mid-line and final inspections following appropriate processes using applicable check sheets and quality inspection forms to ensure emergency vehicles are on target for successful completion according to quality standards.
  • You will document all inadequacies, shortcomings, and additional issues throughout inspection process for consistent, thorough recordkeeping and clear communication of findings.
  • You will collaborate with team members including the Facility Manager, Group Leaders, and Quality Team on questions throughout the inspection process for accurate assessment of emergency vehicles.
  • You will assist with communicating issues to Line Operators, Group Leaders, Director of Quality and Safety, or higher-level as needed to ensure follow-through on observed quality concerns.
  • You will conduct buy-off and road test inspections as the final evaluation of emergency vehicles to ensure every aspect of the vehicle meets quality standards.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: A HS Diploma or GED preferred; will consider an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Experience: 0-1+ years of experience in quality, inspection, or similar role preferred; will train the right person.
  • Certifications: Valid Driver's License required; DOT Certification a plus or willing to pursue DOT Certification.
  • Functional Skills: Excellent attention to detail with solid time management skills; strong ability to maintain focus and problem-solve; able to utilize a tape measurer, read a ruler, and understand specification sheets; highly organized with solid follow-through and logical application skills.
  • Technology Skills: Strong MS Office skills preferred; AutoCAD skills a plus; will train the right person.
  • Language Skills: Solid verbal and written skills; able to communicate professionally with all levels of the organization.
  • Leadership/Behaviors: Self-starter with strong multi-tasking abilities; collaborative, team player with a level-headed approach and calm demeanor; takes initiative to get things done and intuitively applies knowledge; solid ability to present and defend ideas; coachable, continuous learner; dependable and forward-thinking. Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Other Important Information:

Salary: Salary is commensurate with proven expertise and behavior skills that fit the position.

Reports To: Director of Quality and Safety

Core Hours: 5:00 am - 1:30 pm

Typical Work Week: Monday - Friday; some weekend work; 40-45 hours a week on average
