What You'll Do:

As the Director of Facilities, you will research, develop, design, and implement strategies, processes, and practices to ensure optimal facility and equipment utilization, security, and safety to support Operational goals and minimize constraints.

Your Accountabilities in the Role:

  • Researches, develops, and designs facility plans/forecasts and related strategic goals and actions for the respective areas to ensure facilities and equipment meet or exceed the short- and long-term goals for the business.
  • Researches, develops and executes on a Total Productive Maintenance, 5S, and forklift training program for Operations that grows as the Company and team grows, to provide optimal impact to the areas.
  • Sources and negotiates contracts with vendors to ensure the best quality products/services at the right value for the Facility, Waste, Janitorial Support, Security, and Maintenance areas.
  • Establishes a Vendor Plan and Scope and manages the processes to ensure quality, timing, and cost objectives are achieved to ensure a "world class" facility, grounds, equipment, security, and safe working environment.
  • Reviews and maintains metrics for the areas to ensure optimal use and upkeep of the facility, utilities, equipment, and people resources.
  • Manages the budget for the areas, ensuring cost controls are in place for all expenses, and in line with budgetary constraints.
  • Leads, mentors, and coaches the teams to continually challenge and enhance their skillsets.
  • Maintains and enhances the 5S and Safety standards for the respective area, while also supporting the Operations team.
  • Reviews and maintains policies, procedures, and other documentation to provide for accurate, consistent and compliant processes within all facilities.
  • Supports business development activities, including potential acquisitions, manufacturing capacity, production value streams, and capability planning, etc. to ensure Facility and Maintenance planning and activities are in line.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Management, or similar field; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Experience: 7+ years of Facility and Maintenance management and leadership experience, within a mid-size to large scaling production business. Understands process flows, project planning, and concepts to create efficiencies and scaling. Experience with CNC machinery/equipment. Experience in process engineering and/or Safety management would be a plus. Some knowledge in robotics would also be preferred. Proven and successful KPI and budget management experience is also required.
  • Certification(s): 5S, Lean and Six Sigma training preferred.
  • Functional Skills & Problem-Solving: Strategic-thinker, who is a strong analyst and advanced problem solver to help optimize the areas as the business grows. Based on the large volume, strong research, planning, prioritization, execution, follow-through and organizational skills are required, with the ability to set a scalable vision for the future. Has the ability to manage multiple large projects at the same time. Results-oriented, who is strong in cascading goals and KPI management.
  • Technology Aptitude/Skills: Proficient with ERP systems, Microsoft Office and Project Software.
  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present, train, and mentor others; will work with all levels both inside and outside the organization.
  • Leadership/Behaviors: Strong initiative, high energy, with an entrepreneurial spirit, who is optimistic and can lead, challenge, negotiate, influence, listen, and motivate large groups to higher levels of success. Strong ability to communicate expectations and delegate challenging work to others, with consistent follow up. Strong accountability for self and others, with a sense of urgency to get things done; continuous improvement is an on-going key attribute. The position also requires a strong customer, safety, compliance, and quality mindset.

Other Important Information:

Pay/Salary: Salary is commensurate with proven expertise. And, there is also Profit Sharing/Bonus Programs to reward a "job well done"!

Reports To: VP of Operations

Core Hours: 5:00 am 4:00 pm (typical work hours for this role is 7 4:00 pm with extra hours as needed)

Typical Work Week: M-F; some Saturdays are required (when applicable); typically, 45 -50 hours a week on average

Direct Reports: 6-8 direct reports in Maintenance, facilities, and support staff

Travel: Local Travel to facilities within a 2-mile radius; company may grow and have other facilities outside the area.

Approximately 10 - 20% overnight travel
