What You'll Do:

As the Accounts Payable Specialist, you will handle the day-to-day accounting processes, journal entries, and related closing activities to ensure related financial goals are achieved.

Your Accountabilities in the Role:

  • Handles the daily accounts payable activity while being able to work through complex accounts, ensuring that the internal control structures are followed.
  • Communicates regularly with vendors and staff to resolve any AP problems and discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Reviews and processes rebates, warranty claims, and other items, following specific guidelines and ensuring the work is done in a high-quality and timely manner.
  • Handles discrepancies through following up with the warranty/sales department to work through and ensure accurate processing.
  • Responsible for handling aging to ensure bills are paid in accordance with policies and agreements.
  • Resolves any open items from vendor accounts and receivers in a timely manner.
  • Processes and remits monthly sales tax ensuring ongoing and complete tax compliance.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: An Associate's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Math; will consider a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 3 + years of accounting experience performing basic AP, AR, and journal entry functions in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of GAAP and tax compliance is essential.
  • Certification(s): NA
  • Functional Skills: High attention to detail ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and complete work on-time and accurately; basic accounting and math skills and advanced problem-solving skills; high accuracy in journal entry and reconciliation; highly process-oriented; ability to research tax laws and policies to ensure high accuracy in application in the organization.
  • Technology Aptitude/Skills: Proficient with ERP systems, QuickBooks (or similar system would be a plus) Microsoft Office (especially with Excel), and other software programs.
  • Language Skills: Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership/Behaviors: Strong initiative to work independently, data-focused, supportive of the team, strong with processes and compliance; collaborative and solid problem-solver who can figure things out or come with suggestions and enhancements; solution-oriented; has a sense of urgency to get things done.

Other Important Information:

Pay/Salary: Pay is commensurate with proven expertise.

And, the compensation will grow as the team member grows!

Reports To: Controller

Core Hours: 7:00 am - 4:00 pm

Typical Work Week: M-F; occasional Saturdays (when applicable); typically, 40-45 hours a week on average

Direct Reports: None

Travel: Limited travel to post office

Work Conditions: Office environment
