What You'll Do:

As the Commercial Loan Closer Attorney you will research, plan, prepare and execute on the activities to ensure appropriate, on-time, and accurate documentation, closings, and processing of new, modified, or refinanced mortgage loans.

Your Accountabilities in the Role:

  • Reviews purchase agreements to determine the commercial aspects of the loan. Reaches out to borrowers, sellers and attorneys, where applicable.
  • Prepares and reviews the title and loan underwriting materials, endorsements, and contracts to ensure all documents are completed accurately and ready for closings.
  • Performs underwriting, and works with title insurance companies to finalize the closing package, ensuring appropriate legal /file documentation.
  • Facilitates the commercial loan closings with the clients and other applicable members to ensure a smooth process.
  • Collects funds, records, and other important information to finalize the transactions.
  • Develops, maintains, and trains on related processes (including online closings) to ensure full understanding and a high level of execution for customer satisfaction.
  • Attends lending workshops, networking meetings, other to build the Company brand and knowledge on new trends.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred in Accounting, Business or similar field; will consider a High School Diploma or GED with related accounting, or business operations experience.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of commercial loan closings, regulatory, and title experience preferred; underwriting experience is preferred.
  • Functional Skills: Skilled in reviewing legal documents; excellent planning, organization, prioritization, and execution skills; strong analytical skills; advanced skills in problem solving and creating solutions on a timely basis. Solid business and financial sense; can manage to tight deadlines. Good at problem-solving with solid judgment
  • Certifications: Attorney or License from Indiana Department of Insurance required, with Notary preferred. Prior paralegal or Attorney experience would be a plus.
  • Technology Aptitude/Other: Advanced PC and Microsoft skills
  • Language Skills: Advanced communication skills to provide information, instruction, and present documents effectively. Ability to train and mentor others is preferred.
  • Leadership/Behaviors: Strong customer and quality focus; excellent leadership skills to mentor and guide a team; needs to be somewhat driven and assertive to get things done; good with data management and building relationships; flexible and agile within an ever-changing, fast-paced environment; strong in compliance and process enhancements. Able to deal with conflict / sensitive situations well.
  • Culture of the area: Entrepreneurial spirit, who is collaborative, has strong work ethic, assertive, and can work well independently or with others in a fast-paced environment.

Other Important Information:

Pay/Salary: Pay is commensurate with proven expertise.

Reports To: Partner

Core Hours: 8:00 am – 5:30 pm

Typical Work Week: M-F; occasional Saturday (infrequent); 40-45 hours a week on average

Direct Reports: None; will help mentor and train others

Travel: 10-15%; Will travel to other locations as needed
