What You'll Do:

As the Physician Assistant, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of patient care and educating patients on preventative care and treatments, while following state and federal rules and regulations, as well as the standards of nursing care.

Your Accountabilities in the Role:

  • Reviews and handles workers compensation patient care treatment, balancing the medical needs of the patient and the objective workers compensation standards for the employer.
  • Manages preoperative preparation and postoperative clinical management in collaboration with other health care team members to ensure best practice.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's age-specific needs to ensure proper care is being taken.
  • Assists with the provision of surgical care and prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities according to facility, state, and federal regulations.
  • Performs DOT physicals effectively that are in line with the Transportation standards
  • Monitors the effectiveness of interventions and facilitates the patient's transition within and between health care settings (e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients) to provide a positive and effective patient experience.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate recommendations and referrals to ensure quality patient care based on diagnoses.
  • Provides immediate care for on-call work as needed (rotating schedule) to support the clients, patients, and team.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Associates or Bachelors of an accredited school of Nursing and/or Nurse Practitioner Program; will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of Emergency Room, Occupational Medicine, Musculoskeletal, or Orthopedic experience preferred. Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
  • Certification(s): Current Physician Assistant-Certification (PA-C). required.
  • Functional Skills: Strong Attention to details; solid planning, critical thinking, flexibility, and organizational skills a must. Ability to Suture lacerations, repair tendons, splint casts/ splints. Able to analyze care to ensure effectiveness; learns and makes enhances to care provided; Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Technology/Aptitude Skills: Strong PC and System Data Entry Skills required; including basic Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Language Skills: Solid verbal communication skills; ability to influence others. Strong listening skills and ability to understand and carry out verbal instructions. Being bilingual would-be a plus but not required.
  • Leadership/ Behaviors: Self-motivated, high-energy personality, with the ability to work independently with urgent care situations. Acts with urgency, strong customer focus who is a relationship builder and professional; ability to collaborate with and mentor others internally; Strong safety and compliance-oriented to ensure all procedures are being followed.
  • Culture Match: Collaborative, team-based personality who is supportive of a team and can work independently and who can stay calm in fast-paced, urgent situations.

Pay/Salary: Pay is commensurate with proven expertise.

And, the compensation will grow as the team member grows!

Reports To: Business Manager and Occupational Doctor

Core Hours: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm - 4 days a week; or 9 - 5:00 pm 5 days a week (Schedules may fluctuate)

Typical Work Week: M-F; some weekends [& OT when applicable]; 40-43 hours a week on average

Travel: Between the 3 Locations: South Elkhart, Main Elkhart, and Middlebury facilities
