What You'll Do:

As the Transportation Engineer, you will design, plan, and develop specifications for projects, ensuring both client and business goals are achieved.


Your Accountabilities in the Role:


  • Coordinates all activities with project manager and other design engineers.
  • Interprets construction standards and specifications.
  • Coordinates and guides preparation of design submittal construction documents with internal staff and clients.
  • Develops and spot-check calculations and back checks plan mark-ups and completed drafting.
  • Mentors other employees on various design techniques, design standards, codes and software applications.
  • Develops drawings and/or spreadsheets to establish standards.
  • Coordinates utilities with project.
  • Assists with proposals.

Position Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  2. Experience: 5+ years of consulting engineering experience with expertise in transportation engineering. INDOT and Local Public Agency experience a plus. Experience in Civil 3D corridor modeling, quantity calculations, and cost estimation required.
  3. Certification(s): PE License
  4. Functional Skills: Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills. Proven ability to work as a team with co-workers and managers. Strong attention to details, analytical, thoroughness, and accuracy. Forward-thinker with excellent problem-solving skills required, utilizing a broad set of guidelines.
  5. Technology Aptitude/Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
  6. Language Skills: Advanced written and verbal communication skills; can present to large groups, where applicable.
  7. Leadership/Behaviors: Collaborative, innovative, supportive, and client/goal-focused; ability to be flexible, adaptable to move efficiently with business/project changes; Self-directed and strong quality focus.
  8. Culture Match Behaviors: Professional in appearance, strong work ethic, high integrity and accountability, who performs work from the discovery, to the design/process, and throughout the project/task steps in a way that provides the best comprehensive, quality product that fits the client's needs and is aligned to the goals & values of LFA.

Other Important Information:


Salary: Salary is commensurate with proven expertise.


And, the compensation will grow as the team member grows!


Reports To: Transportation Project Manager


Core Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm EST


Typical Work Week: M-F; with approximately 40-45 hours a week on average


Direct Reports: None


Travel: Limited.


Work/Environment: This role is primarily exposed to a normal office environment and client facilities with varying levels of noise and temperature.
