What You'll Do:

As the Project Engineer, you will plan, coordinate, manage the optimization of projects and processes to ensure customer and business goals are achieved.


Your Accountabilities in the Role:

  • Supports the Engineering team to develop the project scope and estimates that are in line with customer specifications and profit goals.
  • Coordinates and maintains records on the launch of new projects in coordination with the Engineering team to ensure a smooth process.
  • Implements Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) based on updated customer requirements, increased production ability, improvement opportunities, to ensure customer and business specifications are met.
  • Prepares CAD operational drawings for major process steps such as turning, machining center, and grinding to ensure acurate specifications.
  • Develops part lead times, process routings, and process output to ensure accurate processes.
  • Examines and plans process enhancements in coordination with the Manufacturing team to continually create efficiencies with the processes.
  • Runs cycle time studies to maintain and/or create additional enhancements that drive efficiencies.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: BS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred; or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience: 0 - 1 year of experience with manufacturing process experience in a gear manufacturing or machining industry.
  • Certifications: NA
  • Functional Skills: Strong detail orientation with excellent planning, prioritizing, organizing, execution, and follow-through skills are required to work effectively in managing various projects. Excellent math and problem-solving skills are necessary to effectively enhance the manufacturing areas. A solid foundational understanding of ISO/Quality Systems, Safety, Lean Thinking and 5S is also required.
  • Technology Skills: CAD experience or aptitude required; experience with SolidWorks is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Advanced verbal and written communication skills; able to present and train others.
  • Leadership/ Behaviors: Must be able to take initiative, be forward-thinking, and make solid decisions focused on the goals of the organization. Strong collaboration/influencing skills are needed to effectively partner with others, listen to ideas, and implement the best enhancements. Ability to be positive, conceptualize and move forward with projects that are viable and cost effective is also important in this role. Excellent versatility is also key to lead and perform portions of the projects.

Other Important Information:

Pay/Salary: Salary is negotiable based on experience.

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Core Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (may include hours before or after core hours based on demand or flexibility needed)

Typical Work Week: M-F; occasional Saturday to fill rotations or meet work demands; 45 hours a week on average

Direct Reports: None

Travel: Limited; some travel to other locations or vendors

Work Conditions: Air conditioned/heated manufacturing facility with possible exposure to noise; dust; fumes; physical, chemical, and biohazards; solvents, oils, and detergents.
