What You'll Do:

As the Sr Process Engineer, you will design, plan, lead, coordinate, and manage the optimization of projects and processes to ensure customer and business goals are achieved. You will also manage complex Lean/5S/Innovation activities, handle advanced problem-solving, and mentor others for the continual success of the team.


Your Accountabilities in the Role:

  • Reviews and collaborates with the customers and the Estimating team to understand how to enhance the customer experience, while attaining performance criteria (specifications, cost, and reliability) while also enhancing internal efficiencies in the process.
  • Develops a project scope and estimates with the team that are in line with customer specifications and profit goals.
  • Manages and leads on the Project plans, with the internal team and outside vendors, to ensure intermittent checkpoints are achieved as it relates to specifications, cost, and internal efficiencies to enhance profitability along the way.
  • Manages the launch of new projects and prototypes within manufacturing to ensure a smooth and continual validated process, through PPAP/FAI and using APQP techniques.
  • Manages the related projects and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) based on updated customer requirements, increased production ability, improvement opportunities, to ensure customer and business specifications are met.
  • Manages and prepares CAD operational drawings for tooling or major process steps such as turning, machining center, and grinding to ensure acurate specifications.
  • Manages new and existing processes as it relates to part lead times, process routings, and process output to ensure accurate processes.
  • Examines, develops, and executes on process enhancements in coordination with the Manufacturing team to continually create efficiencies with the processes.
  • Manages, validates and runs cycle time studies to maintain and/or create additional enhancements that drive efficiencies.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: BS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred; or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience with manufacturing projects, process improvements, and design specification and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) experience in a gear manufacturing, aerospace, medical, or machining industry, involving chip making and gear cutting (involving milling, turning, grinding, heat treating vs. press, forming, or shaping).
  • Certifications: NA
  • Functional Skills: Strong detail orientation with excellent researching, designing, planning, prioritizing, organizing, and follow-through skills are required to work effectively in managing various projects. Excellent math and advanced problem-solving skills are necessary to effectively enhance the manufacturing areas. A solid working knowledge of ISO/Quality Systems, Safety, Lean Thinking and 5S is also required.
  • Technology Skills: CAD experience required; experience with SolidWorks is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Advanced verbal and written communication skills; able to present and train others.
  • Leadership/ Behaviors: Strong ability to focus on customer and business goals; able to self-lead, lead on projects, and mentor others. Must be able to take initiative, be forward-thinking, and make solid decisions focused on the goals of the organization. Strong collaboration/influencing skills are needed to effectively partner with others, listen to ideas, and implement the best enhancements. Ability to be positive, conceptualize and move forward with projects that are viable and cost effective is also important in this role. Excellent versatility is also key to lead and perform portions of the projects to create efficiencies.

Other Important Information:

Pay/Salary: Salary is negotiable based on experience.

  • And, the compensation will grow as the team member grows!

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Core Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (may include hours before or after core hours based on demand or flexibility needed)

Typical Work Week: M-F; occasional Saturday to fill rotations or meet work demands; 45 hours a week on average

Direct Reports: None

Travel: Limited; some travel to other locations or vendors as needed or desired

Work Conditions: Air conditioned/heated manufacturing facility with possible exposure to noise; dust; fumes; physical, chemical, and biohazards; solvents, oils, and detergents.
